Detail Design: Arrangement, form, dimensions and surface properties of all the individual parts finally laid down; materials specified; technical and economic feasibility re-checked; all drawings and other production documents produced.
This is the final stage and your design is should be nearly complete. At this stage you’re refining the design and checking the finer detail. You will; define the final layout, complete a final FEA to ensure your design is fit for purpose, check with hand calcs, produce a failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), consider costings, finalise drawings and present to the customer. For those that have studied Belbin analogies, this is where the Completer/Finisher can really make a difference.
